Common questions

Family visa FAQs.

What's the difference between K-1 and CR-1?

K-1 is for fiancés; CR-1/IR-1 is for spouses already married. Timelines, costs, and interview logistics all differ — we'll pick the right path in your consultation.

How long will it take?

Typical timelines range from 9 to 18 months, depending on the service center and the consulate. We give you a realistic estimate at the start.

Do I need to meet the income requirement?

Most cases require the sponsor to meet 125% of the federal poverty guideline. If you don't, a joint sponsor can help; we'll walk you through Form I-864.
